Philly meets the Bronx

Sometimes we have to laugh our selves.. I mean as I suffered through what felt like 100 seasons of Jerlsylious (yes – I can relate coming from a family of women who do hair!) then we moved the stereo-type humor to Philly! Saw this today and just had to share

From the Philly.com website:

Tina Fey brought to “Saturday Night Live” what we locals know all too well as the Philly accent, and she made sure to impress upon the rest of the country what is perhaps the most notable word, our dialect’s high “wooder” mark if you will.In a skit called “The Bronx Beat” that features Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph as Bronx housewives hosting a local access television show, Fey is introduced as Cousin Karen from Philly. Fey’s character uses her introduction to bring up the Jersey Shore and stuffed peppers, and to employ the word “youse.” When Poehler and Rudolph mention how “classy” Fey’s accent is, they ask her to “say things in Philly. Say water.”Watch the funny confusion that ensues when the Bronx and Philly dialects collide: Read more at http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Youse-dont-want-to-miss-Tina-Fey-bringing-classy-Philly-accent-to-SNL.html#K5xcS67JrxCUk4hf.99

Varuni Napoli

Being allergic to Hazelnuts mean I’ve never had the pleasure of trying Nutella. But of course anything with chocolate I’m always drawn to. The fact that they have got tubs of it around here is amazing.

I wish I’d run into this place when I first got here to Atlanta back in the summer for this temporary work assignment. I would have come much more often. I liked the off-beat and quirky fast-paced friendly vibe of the place. Not to mention, it smells great when you walk in. In the way that only an open wood fired kitchen can be. The pizzas have nice crust and flavor all the way around. The antipasto plate was a much welcome suprise find on the menu. I like the fact that they try unusual combinations, so overall definitely a fun place to go from date night to boys (or gals) night out.

Dinner from Sophies Uptown – @SophiesUptown

Tossed in the second of the frozen casseroles I picked up from Sophie’s Uptown here in Atlanta last night while waiting for Shadow to arrive.
Have to say for the taste, quality and the convenience of fresh cooked, frozen casseroles this good, I’m not sure I could make it for the price I bought it. Tonight’s option was the crunchy chicken white meat chicken withbroccoli and white cream sauce. 30 minutes and it was done!

Get Ready for Jet Jat Nano

Got my Jet Jat Nano this this week and have to say it’s already going to be the fun “office gift”. Moto put together a nice mini droid in this. Its easy to use, but still feels like the more expensive versions. Loved that they took the time to include mini lights on it so that with its small size, you can still see it in the grass. Charges fast, east to set up. Best of all is that the unit comes with replaceable propellers which was a nice touch – but that also means not for small children. But I think the “small child” in the adult will love it. Image using them for “office or team Olympics”! FYI – this has more power that you think so for first take off; what your ceilings

When “cookies for breakfast” is a good thing

Its my new alternative patio; not provincetown but sure fits the bill for great coffee, food and baked goods worth waiting for! Some people don’t realize how hard it is to make a really good fried egg with the right amount of runny yolk and crisp edges but they knocked it out of the park in my egg & bacon sandwhich. The egg casseroles which are somewhat like mini individual dence quiches come in different flavors and are very good offering both vegetarian and meat-based versions. The cookies, pastries and baked all rock with flavor and freshness. Hint: try the spicy chocolate cookie with it’s perfect combination of rich chocolate flavor with a hint of spiciness. They’re using Intelligentsia coffee which has a deep rich flavor; yes you can also get lattes and cappuccinos they’ve got a full coffee barista set up too. With a huge front patio, you will want to sit a minute and enjoy all the goodness here. Ohh and they have wifi if you must.

American Mission Comfort Food Done Right

Oh my. Rocken good food tonight to celebrate my a pals bday.

I hadn’t been to  Blue Plate before – but it sure does comfort food with more twists than a slnky.

The food could not be any better. They add just enough twists on old standards that instead of  your first thought being ” this isn’t home Mom used to make it” instead it becomes now why “didn’t Mom make it this way!”

Reservations suggested & worth it. Great staff and its a night to be engaged.

Summer Skincare Samples from BirchBox

One of the good thing about vacations is my chance to catch up on various more personal and creatiIMG_6285ve projects. Now most of the time they involve sightseeing or eating. But a part of that time is also about catching up on my blogging on some of the “fun finds” I come across.

In the past I’ve spoken about me member with BirchBox.com; a mail order samples membership that for a monthly fee they provide you with sample (and on occasion full size) products for face and body. Often I think the monthly is general fair, lets say around 85% of the time, but that bumps to 90% when I go on a trip, the gym or a weekend trip and need a sample or small size product. These samples are perfect for travel.

I’ve been a huge fan of one of the beard cleaners; Mr Natty Face Forrest Soap and have gone on to purchase it several times since I initially got it in my box. But being on the east coast, this summer, in the heat and humidity I found myself needing some alternatives for skill and face. This prompted me to bring out the a new product; Das Boom Everything Wash with a blend of Bay Rum, Smoke and yes “Dirt” – it’s an earthy natural scent that when use as a full body wash isn’t overpowering or floral. It also leaves your skin feeling clean and moisturized sort of a nice change after sweating and putting sunscreen on all day. I have to say – I have found another fave product ! Check the link for the other versions of the brand as well. I think the next up for me is its Bourbon & Leather Soap version.

The other product I got a chance to enjoy is Brickell’s Purifying Charcoal FaceWash. Now, be prepared – if you aren’t used to products with a charcoal component – it isn’t a white color – it, well it looks liquid grey liquid coal. But don’t let that stop you – it goes on cool and refreshing and leaves your face feeling clean, but not super dry. With its blend of Charcoal to cleanse the pores of bacteria and irritants, while natural oils dissolve the bad kind and replenishes skin with healthy ones.

Damn sand.. not anymore with the mesh bag from @Quirky

OK so I just saw these on one of those Facebook “like” ads. The (@Quirky),  Quirky’s website is pretty simple and has a bunch of creative ideas on products. These three were the ones that caught my eye first.  They have both a tote version for both men and women (if you play gender roles) and a backpack for the kids . Summer isn’t that far off!

The “womans” version is natural with a pop of color  and the “mens” is charcoal.

Right now the woman and kids version is $20 and the men’s is $29 for mens – either prices looks worth it.
